Coln
Community Stores
relies on local people giving
their invaluable time and skills
The jobs carried out by our volunteers are many and varied - to suit all ages, levels of experience, and time availability.
They
include:
serving customers in the shop
making refreshments for people in the café
stacking shelves
helping log in deliveries of stock
cleaning
washing up
keeping the garden beautiful
A range of skills is needed, so volunteers may be able to choose which area of work they are best suited to: some people like to use the till, others prefer to stock the shelves, and some people even enjoy cleaning and washing up! However, volunteers also need to be flexible enough to help out where needed if not many staff are available. On-the-job training is given, so if you've never used a till before or don't know how to make a cappuccino you can be taught these skills - and there is always a manager on hand to help if you get stuck.
Shifts are between 2 and 4 hours long, depending on the time of day, and volunteers fill in the hours they would like to work on a time-sheet one or more weeks ahead. Some people choose a fixed day and time, others like to fill in any gaps when a group email is sent requesting help so the system is very flexible.
If you are interested in
